Energy Siphon is a Defensive Ability in Titanfall 2, available for the Monarch chassis. It functions similarly to the Laser Shot used by Ion, though it deals almost no damage. Instead, Energy Siphon "steals" energy and uses it to replenish Monarch's shield. Hitting a pilot or minion will regain 250 shield, while hitting anything else grants 750 shield (even Reapers and Dropships). It will also momentarily blind the enemy, slow turn speed, and slow movement speed against Pilots and Titans. If an opponent already has shields, Energy Siphon will deal an extra 1,250 damage, but will still give you the same amount of shield and not give any extra core charge.

It can also be upgraded via the Upgrade Core. Energy Transfer, available at Tier 1, will allow Monarch to play Team Medic by providing friendly Titans with energy shield when shot by the Siphon, though the amount of shields given is pitifully low. Energy Field, available at Tier 2, will turn the Siphon into an Area-of-Effect (AOE) weapon, increasing effectiveness against large clusters of enemies and granting any extra shield to the user.

You cannot get Critical Hit while having any amount of shield, so gaining a tiny amount of shield might provide more health than expected.

Notes

  • Monarch's Energy Siphon will give the Monarch the same amount of shield regardless if the Ronin is using Sword Block or not. The extra damage that Energy Siphon deals to shielded targets also cannot be blocked by Sword Block, nor will the slowed movement speed or aim speed be blocked.
  • Unlike Arc Wave, Energy Siphon does not slow dashes or movement abilities like Hover or Phase Dash.
  • While holding the button to use Energy Siphon, if the player wishes to cancel their charge, they can melee and then immediately release Siphon, cancelling the charge without wasting the ability.
  • Energy Siphon inflicts just 100 damage to Titans and only 20 damage to Pilots, Particle Wall, or Gun Shield.
    • Hitting a Particle Wall or Gun Shield will also not grant any shield to Monarch.
  • Energy Siphon can be upgraded with the Shield Amplifier Kit, to make the shield gained 25% stronger.
