The V-47 Flatline, or simply the Flatline, is a Pilot anti-personnel fully automatic bullpup assault rifle, manufactured by Wonyeon Defense, that appears in Titanfall 2.[1] It has negligible vertical recoil, instead involving an extreme degree of horizontal recoil, similar to the Alternator. It is unlocked at level 47.

History

Design and performance

It features a collapsible frame similar to that of the R-101C Carbine and R201 Assault Rifle, most likely to aid with transportation inside Titans and other vehicles.

The rifle is commonly seen utilised by Militia Grunts, including those of the 41st Militia Rifle Battalion, as a standard weapon. However, they have also been found in the hands of IMC Marines as well. Instead of having normal up-and-down recoil, it recoils side-to-side.

Following the Frontier War's conclusion, the V-47 Flatline was succeeded by the VK-47 Flatline in the Apex Games.

The Flatline is a strong weapon. Despite the counterintuitive nature of its flat recoil - similar to that of the Alternator - it is an extremely reliable and powerful gun. Managing the recoil can be a problem as this weapon works best at mid to close ranges, but long ranges require the user to shoot in controlled bursts. However, it is out performed by sniper rifles at range. The Flatline works well for midair kills or kills while in motion, as its flat recoil makes tracking enemies slightly easier.

The Flatline can oppose any weapon with ease, however in very close range encounters, shotguns and submachine guns tend to have the upper hand. Flatline rounds have a unique trait, in that the rounds will cause the target to flinch heavily, much more so than any other weapon in its class.

The Flatline has great hip fire, and a skilled user can gun down targets effectively without needing to aim in close range.

The Flatliner callsign can be unlocked by playing with the V-47.

Trivia

  • The Flatline bears a slight resemblance to a bullpup Kalashnikov rifle, specifically the OTS-14 Groza. The safety selector and the silhouette of the upper receiver are reminiscent of the Kalashnikov lineage but also it appears to use a Tapco 30-round Kalashnikov mag.
  • The Flatline appears to be sci-fi spin on the TKB-408 rifle. The device mounted above the barrel also bears a resemblance to the sighting device mounted on an AKM in Neil Blomkamp's movie Elysium.
  • In addition to the above references, the simple name V-47, along with its overall design, is an obvious reference to the AK-47.
