Extended Energy Mag

The extended Energy magazine is an attachment for weapons that take Energy ammunition for Apex Legends. Like the other magazine types, Energy mags are divided into four rarities: Common, Rare, Epic and Legendary (also referred to as Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 respectively). The greater the level, the greater amount of rounds that can be stored (except at Level 4, which carries the same amount of extra rounds as a Level 3 magazine, but gives the autoloader perk which allows your weapon to reload after 7 seconds if holstered). These were added into the game in Season 2, but were removed in the middle of Season 3 and reintroduced in season 6 with the Volt coming to the game and the Devotion being removed from the Care Package. These are applicable to all energy weapons.

Weapon Magazine Level
Level 1 Level 2 Level 3
Havoc Energy Rifle 28 32 36
X-55 Devotion 40/46 44/51 48/55
L-STAR EMG 26/30 28/32 30/35
Triple Take 21 24 27

Trivia

  • The reason for the removal of the Extended Energy Mags in midst of season 3 was never explicitly stated, but was likely due to the later recategorisation of the Triple Take and Charge Rifle as weapons that used sniper ammo and (with the Triple Take specifically) the Extended Sniper Mags, and the switch between the L-STAR EMG and X-55 Devotion as care package weapons leaving the HAVOC as the only energy weapon which reloaded, due to the L-STAR's reload function being removed and replaced with only being able to overheat, as the original weapon did. This would change later as L-STAR would be given the ability to equip magazines which regulated the heat capacity, as well as the Devotion and Volt being added which would use energy mags.
  • The only time the developers mentioned the removal of the energy magazine was that once season 4 came out, it would make "more sense" as to why energy mags were removed.
  • The removal of Energy mags was not planned to be in the midst of season 3. The original plan was to remove them by the time season 4 was out.
