Assault on the Sentinel (battle)

The Assault on the Sentinel was an operation conducted by the Frontier Militia in the Frontier War. It was the second major offensive conducted by the Marauder Corps following their recruitment of James MacAllan.
Prelude
The plan to destroy IMC flagship IMS Sentinel was formed following the Militia attack on Angel City, in which the Sentinel would provide fire support to IMC troops. During the battle, in which ex-IMC officer Barker was "forcibly recruited" to the Militia cause, James MacAllan ordered the Militia's Hornet fighters to focus fire on the Sentinel's aft thruster, heavily damaging it. This would result in the Sentinel being forced to retreat to drydock at IMC Outpost 207 for three days of repairs, while a Destroyer would be directed to cover the carrier's patrol route.[1]
Despite this, Barker would be unwilling to help the Militia plan to investigate the abandoned Base Golden, an abandoned Repulsor Tower research station, fearing the Sentinel's presence would prevent the operation from succeeding. Consequently, the Militia would stage an attempt to destroy the carrier.
The Battle
With the Sentinel vulnerable to attack and protected by several Orbital Defense Cannons, the Militia would stage an attack by attempting to use the IMC's weapons against themselves. To approach the site without being shot down, Bish would hack the IMC defense systems to fool the sensors into believing there was only one Militia vessel,[2] the decoy Montana, sent in as bait.[3] Militia Crow dropships would jump into range of the base just as the railgun of Outpost 207 fired upon the vessel, allowing them to land and deploy troops as the railgun cooled and reloaded. While Pilots, Titans and Grunts clashed, additional troops would be deployed to Outposts 197 and 210.
Outcome
During the battle, the Militia-commandeered cannon would fire upon the Sentinel a total of three times, the final time dooming the ship. If the Militia win the battle during the mission "Assault on the Sentinel", the vessel is completely destroyed. If the IMC win the battle in-game, the vessel is critically damaged and the crew manages to evacuate via escape pod as the vessel is forced down onto the planet's surface. The IMC would intend to salvage the vessel, though it is unknown whether this was managed following the Battle of Demeter.
Aftermath
Following the destruction of IMS Sentinel, the Militia would use the gap in the IMC's defenses to succesfully strike at IMC bases Golden, Sierra and the refueling port of Demeter.
