A Merit is part of a point system for Multiplayer on Titanfall 2.You can get Credit with every each Merit.
There are multiple type of merits: Player merits, titan merits, weapon merits, and aegis merits
Player merits are earned by leveling up weapons and titans, and certain objectives in multiplayer mode, they level up your player rank
Titan and weapon merits are achieved by doing certain challenges with weapons/titans (most of which could be summed as 'use this weapon/titan') they level up your weapons or titans. Leveling up a weapon or titan awards player merits.
Aegis merits are earned by doing certain objectives in Frontier Defense mode, they level up your aegis rank.
